Shakespeare Club announces 2021-2022 scholarship winner

The 2021-2022 Shakespeare Club Creative Writing Award winner, Savannah Slater, attended the club’s annual luncheon at the St. Marys Community Public Library.

Slater read a sample of her writing to members before receiving her scholarship certificate and winnings.

A senior at St. Marys Memorial High School, Savannah was selected by the school’s English teacher, Shaun Ricker, who accompanied her to the club’s spring luncheon along with her parents, Marion and Josie Slater, St. Marys Memorial High School principal Jon Burke and assistant principal John Zerbe.

The club’s scholarship was $250, and an additional $250 was awarded by the Mary Englehart Family Memorial Scholarship, in memory of the longtime St. Marys teacher and Shakespeare Club member.

Savannah will be attending Miami University, majoring in English literature.
