Boardwalk Village grand opening set for May 27
The Greater Grand Lake region is receiving another attraction to the area in the form of the Boardwalk Village, which will be holding its grand opening on May 27.
With the grand opening set for 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., the event will be big and attract a variety of people, according to Marketing Coordinator Brianna Obringer of RCS Construction.
Her company has been working on the construction of what they want to be a big attraction for Grand Lake and the surrounding area.
“We’re going to be doing a grand opening event that’s free and open to the public,” said Obringer about the event. Technically, the Boardwalk Village will officially open on June 1, with this grand opening simply showing that the first phase of the project is done. “That’s going to give people the chance to be able to tour each different type of unit and kind of walk around the village to just kind of see what it’s all about.”
The aim of the Boardwalk Village is, according to Obringer, to be a vacation spot for any tourists that want to come to the area, as well as for locals that want to enjoy Grand Lake. This includes plans for dining and shopping places for the area as well by the company.
“They’ve talked about it for several
years of what they wanted to do on that property because they’ve owned that for a while,” stated Obringer.“And wanting to bring something really to help the lake and the community, that was always the idea.”
The village is only in its first phase as of right now, but RCS Construction is planning on expanding it even further in the near future. The vacation rentals are part of phase one, with plans for cottages, a swimming pool and pool house planned to be unveiled June 1 and six townhouses presented on July 25.
The idea is something RCS Construction has been working for a while now, with the project finally coming to fruition after careful planning. While there was the occasional issue, it most consisted of things they expected to come up during construction.
“Just like anything that requires permitting, that’s probably been one of our biggest setbacks in the project, but we worked through those problems,” Obringer explained as being one of the biggest issues. “Now we’re kind of just chugging along to get everything finished.”
Obringer stated that she is very thankful for the support that they were able to get so far, both from inside the RCS and out. The project has been making plenty of progress since they started, and she believes they couldn’t have done it without the dedication of the people who worked on it.
“I would say definitely number one we want to thank everyone at RCS Construction for all their hard work that they’ve put into this,” said Obringer. “We also want to thank our subcontractors that we worked with that have helped us in the project, the city of Celina for everything that they’ve done for us and their support.”
Obringer is also grateful for the ODNR, the Lake Improvement Association, the Celina Fire and Police departments, their guests who made reservations as well as everyone else in the community. The support is heavily appreciated by Obringer and RCS itself for what they’ve been able to accomplish so far.
