Charles L. Greenawalt, 76, of St. Marys, OH died 7:45 a.m. Monday Feb. 13, 2023 at his residence.

He was born Nov. 30, 1946 in Piqua, OH to Chalmers and Rose E. (Lewis) Greenawalt.

On May 14, 1966 at St. Paul’s UCC in St. Marys, he married Joyce L. Raymond who survives. Also survived by: daughter Kathy Greenawalt-Cherry (Ron Cherry) of Dayton, OH, grandson Taylore Cherry of Dayton, OH, sister Susan Greenawalt of Cleveland, OH, and numerous members of the extended Raymond family. Preceded in death by: parents Chalmers and Rose Greenawalt; son Charles L. Greenawalt, Jr. (Feb. 6, 1993). He was a graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School (Class of 1964). A veteran of the United States Army, he proudly served his country in the Vietnam War. He retired from The St. Marys Foundry Co., where he worked for 44 years as a coremaker. He was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in St. Marys, where he served as a deacon and a trustee. His favorite pastimes included woodworkin­g, volunteeri­ng at his church, and working on various “fix-it” projects. In Nice weather, he could be found on his front porch reading or visiting with friends. An avid sports fan, he especially enjoyed attending his grandson’s baseball games. Rites are scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. on Friday Feb. 17, 2023 at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ 201 N. Perry Street in St. Marys. The Rev. Rhonda Hainer will officiate the services. Burial, with military funeral honors, will follow at the Resthaven Memory Gardens near Moulton, OH. Visitation 5 - 8 p.m. on Thursday at the Miller Funeral Home 1605 Celina Road (Ohio 703 West) in St. Marys. Memorial contributi­ons may be directed to either St. Marys Community Foundation (Charles Greenawalt, Jr. Scholarshi­p Fund) or St. Paul’s UCC.
