PEX can limit water flow

The Family Handyman - - HOME CARE+ REPAIR -

We love PEX. But most PEX tubing has a smaller inside diameter than its copper counterpart. More important, PEX connectors are much smaller. Some nominal 1/2-in. plastic connectors have an interior diameter as small as 5/16 in. This can make a difference in your water flow.

If you’re concerned about water flow, step up the size of the PEX. If you’re replacing a 1/2-in. copper pipe with PEX, for example, use 3/4-in. PEX instead of 1/2-in.
