Cut­ting sand­pa­per will dull scis­sors and util­ity knife blades in no time. Here’s a bet­ter tech­nique: Fas­ten a hack­saw blade to the edge of your work­bench. Slip a washer be­hind the blade at each of the mount­ing holes so a sheet of sand­pa­per can eas­ily slide in be­hind the blade. I fold the pa­per to the fin­ished size I want, then cut along the fold. DAR­RELL NOVACEK
