Plans call for Fayetteville’s third 7-Eleven store to open by Amazon
Fayetteville will get its third 21st-century 7-Eleven convenience store in the not-distant future, following the opening of two Fayetteville locations this past summer.
The new store will be on Bragg Boulevard, by the new Amazon distribution center at the interchange with the Interstate 295 Outer Loop.
The new locations broke a decadeslong 7-Eleven hiatus for Fayetteville. The once-ubiquitous convenience store chain left the city in the 1970s and left North Carolina in 1988, The Fayetteville Observer previously reported.
And plans for at least three more new 7-Eleven locations have been submitted to the city.
Here are more details on where people can buy the famous Big Gulp fountain drinks:
What is the status of the new Bragg Boulevard 7-Eleven?
Developer Encore-Bragg Boulevard plans to build the new store at the Bragg Boulevard entrance to the Military Business Park, where the new Amazon Fulfillment Center distribution warehouse was recently built.
An official with Encore could not be reached for comment as to when the store is planned to open, or other details.
A document submitted to Fayetteville's Planning and Zoning office says the site will have 6.3 acres, with a 4,650square-foot store, fuel pumps and outdoor picnic tables. A committee of city staff was scheduled to review the proposal this week to verify that none of the details would violate building codes or other regulations.
Where else is 7-Eleven in Fayetteville?
7-Eleven opened two locations in the summer in Fayetteville.
One of them is at 3901 Ramsey St., by the Lowe's home improvement store. The other is at 661 Sante Fe Drive, near the interchange with the All American Freeway.
What other plans does 7-Eleven have for Fayetteville?
Documents filed with the city list indicate at least three more 7-Elevens could open:
● On Robeson Street at Commerce Street, by the interchange with the Martin Luther King Jr. Freeway and near the Savoy Heights neighborhood.
● On Yadkin Road at Fillyaw Road, by the I-295 underpass and near the Fort Liberty gate.
On South Reilly Road at Morganton Road.
