7-Eleven plans more Fayetteville locations
The convenience store brand that left Fayetteville in the 1970s returned last year with two new stores, and as many as seven more appear to be on the way.
In the last two months, 7-Eleven submitted plans to the city for locations on Morganton Road, Cliffdale Road and Bragg Boulevard, hot on the heels of stores that opened on Ramsey Street and Santa Fe Drive last year.
The Fayetteville Technical Review Committee, which evaluates site plans and advises developers if their proposals appear to conflict with the development ordinances, saw plans Jan. 3 for a 7-Eleven at the site of a former office space at 2603 Bragg Blvd. The 4,650-square-foot store and several gas pumps would be built on about a 2-acre plot across from auto repair shop Eutaw Service Center.
Officials reviewed plans Dec. 6 for a location at Cliffdale and Bunce roads. Plans show the proposed store, which would be about the same size as Bragg Boulevard location, situated on a vacant 1.78-acre plot. It would also have gas pumps.
The company submitted a site preapplication Dec. 20 for another 7-Eleven at 107 S. McPherson Church Road, a vacant lot between a Valero gas station and Candle Nail Bar salon. Like the other recently-submitted plans, a 4,560-square-foot store and several gas pumps are shown.
There are also four other stores around Fayetteville that were first proposed to the city in Spring 2022. Here's an update on those 7-Eleven locations:
● Site plans were approved Dec. 4 for a location at 2611 Beaver St., in front of the new Amazon fulfillment center on Bragg Boulevard. Building permits are in process, awaiting 7-Eleven's resubmittal, city spokesperson David Scott said Wednesday.
● A store first proposed in early 2022 at 6820 Fillyaw Road was issued a building permit Nov. 7, Scott said.
● Applications submitted to the city for locations at 105 S. Reilly Road in June 2022 and 636 Robeson St. in April have not had a change to their statuses since then, Scott said.
7-Eleven declined to comment on the proposed stores.
