Beetdigger softball player Kylei Abreo recently signed to play with with Crown College, a private Christian college in St. Bonifacius, Minnesota.

“I could not be more exited to formally extend an Official Offer of a roster spot on our 2021 softball team. We are confident that your hard work will lead you to a successful college career on and off the field,” Jamie Ross, Crown College head softball coach, said in a letter to Abreo. “We want to present you with the best opportunity to grow your faith, advance your education and extend what has already been a fantastic playing career.”

The Beetdiggers had a great season in 2020, and pulled of f upset wins in the 3A state tournament against four th seed Rocky Ford and fifth seed L yons before being defeated in the Final Four by the tournament’s eventual winner, Eaton.

Abreo, who plays first base and catcher, said she improved a lot over the 2020 season.

“I had a huge improvement from my junior year, and I ended the season with .375 batting average, I think, and I hit three home runs and the last one was in the final four (at) the state tournament,” she said.

Abreo said Crown College was the best choice to achieve her goals athletically, academically and spiritually.

“They actually reached out to me first, and they seemed more interested in me than other colleges and what they’re offering to me felt like the right fit for me to continue softball,” Abreo said. “I’m on the journey and am hoping to continue going to church and get baptized either before I head to college or in college.”

Abreo had a long list of suppor ters who helped her during her high school sports career.

“I just want to thank my mom for being my biggest suppor ter this year, especially. She never let me give up when times are hard. And the girls, my friends, were my also my biggest suppor ters. They were always ready to cheer me on and never let me get down about about a bad at bat or a bad play and (Brush head coach) Tom (Odle) especially for always working with me after practice for hours on end on my hitting,” Abreo said. “The Beetdigger program honestly, they are a huge, huge impact on my four years of high school.”
