Annual Leaf Pickup Program kicks off Oct. 30

Runs through Nov. 28; FM residents asked to observe the guidelines

-

The City of Fort Morgan’s annual Leaf Pickup Program starts Saturday, Oct. 30, and will continue through Sunday, Nov. 28, this year, according to a city news release.

The free program allows Fort Morgan residents to pile their fallen leaves along the curb line of city streets, where they will be picked up by the city’s Streets Department.

To ensure that the program runs smoothly, residents are asked to observe several guidelines when raking leaves into the street.

•Leaves should be placed in well-established piles 2 feet away from the curb.

•Do not place tree limbs, trash, debris or other items in the street.

•Residents are also asked not to park cars near the leaf piles during the program.

The program will be ongoing for about a month, and residents should expect that their leaf piles

may not be picked up for some time. City streets crews will be working their way around the city to pick up the leaves, which takes a great deal of time and manpower. Crews may need to make several passes through some neighborhoods, and leaf pickup is done in addition to all of the regular duties of the Streets Department.

Leaves that are placed in the streets by Nov. 28 will be picked up. After the end date of the program residents are asked to refrain from placing any more leaves in the streets.

For more information, call the Streets Department at 970-542-3987.
