Matthew Brasby
October 26, 1955 - April 23, 2022
Matthew Aloyisus Brasby of Fort Morgan died April 23, 2022 after a short but painful battle with renal cancer. He was born October 26, 1955 in Fall River, Massachusetts to Henry and Barbara Brasby. He lived in New Hampshire until the family moved to
Greeley, Colorado in 1971.
Matt graduated from Greeley Central High School in Greeley and also from the building trades program at Aims College. He worked in the construction industry most of his adult life.
He married Ethel Gore in 1976. She died in an automobile accident in 1989. Matt married Kathy Wacker In Haxtun on May 19, 1990. Matt became a Christian as an adult and earned a Diploma in Divinity in 2006 from Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary. He then served as a pastor for a few years before returning to construction.
He created Brasby Construction Inc ( BCI) in Haxtun, CO. in the late 1970s, specializing in agricultural construction. He built many grain bins in northeastern Colorado and also specialized in metal roofs and siding, doors and windows. There were few construction repairs he couldn't solve.
He moved to Fort Morgan in 2004 to ser ve as a pastor for a few years but then resurrected BCI, ser ving the Morgan County area until his retirement.
He was an active member of Life Fellowship in Fort Morgan at the time of his death, ser ving as a council member and also on staf f as outreach director.
Matt was preceded in death by his father, his first wife, Ethel, and a grandson, Ian Galloway.
Survivors include his mother, Barbara, his wife, Kathy; six children, Cicilia
( Lonnie) Hartley, Melissa ( Jason) Galloway, Debra ( Jonathan) Rogers, Nathan ( Valerie)
Brasby, Rebecca ( Devin)
Seymour, and Timothy
Brasby; 10 grandchildren, Amanda Galloway, Emily and Ethan Rogers, Victoria and Emma Hartley, and Isaac,
Silas, Joel, Ezra, and Caleb Brasby; siblings, Bill ( Dulce) Brasby, Mary Huddlestone, Mark ( Pam) Brasby, Chris ( Ella) Brasby,
Tom Brasby, Paul ( Sherrie) Brasby, and Cathy ( Walter) Powell. Also sur viving are his brothers- in- law, Norman ( Bonnie) Wacker and John ( Angela) Wacker; and sister- in- law, Ann ( Dave) Iungerich; special friends, Javier Martinez and Mary Gardner; and many nieces and nephews and beloved friends.
Matt took many mission trips over the years, to Mexico, to Chile, and to Haiti. In recent years, he became passionate about a ministry in Kenya which provides school and feeding funds for marginalized youth. He was able to provide funds to purchase land and for a school to be built and was planning to finance teachers, staf f, and food for students. Memorial funds, unless other wise designated, will be sent to New Dawn Ministries of Hope to continue his vision. A viewing will be held at Heer Mortuary in Fort Morgan, Thursday, April 28, from 4- 6 pm. A Celebration of Life is scheduled for 10 am Friday, April 29, at Life Fellowship ( 17723 MCR 20) in Fort Morgan followed by a meal. The family is planning to provide an open mic at the lunch for friends and family who would like share stories.
