McDonald Automotive provides space to celebrate the community

- By Katie Roth

When it comes to local support, McDonald Automotive Group is all in. In the past year, McDonald has supported over 50 events and organizations in Morgan County and around northeastern Colorado. As the severity of the COVID-19 pandemic continues to decline, McDonald hopes to increase that number as larger community events make their return.

One of McDonald Automotive Group’s main goals is to give back to the community and reciprocate the support that the community has shown the business, both through sponsorships and partnerships.

“Our company culture is built around ‘doing right comes naturally,’ and we believe supporting the communities we serve is the right thing to do. We are so grateful for the support Fort Morgan and Morgan County have shown us. It is important that we give back,” said Marketing Manager David Thiemann.

Two of the most recent partnerships McDonald formed were with the Fort Morgan Area Chamber of Commerce and Media Logic Radio. McDonald was able to offer the Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram showroom as an event space for both the Chamber’s Annual Meeting in March and Media Logic’s Bobstock Headliner Reveal Party in April, both of which proved to be great successes.

“It’s really about being part of the community conversation and being involved at the grassroots level. The Fort Morgan Chamber has done a great job navigating the unprecedented business challenges of the past two years and wanted to make sure this year’s Annual Meeting had a fresh, new spin, so we knew we could offer that environment,” Thiemann said. “And who doesn’t want to be involved with Bobstock in Fort Morgan? Lindsey Bruntz at Media Logic Radio brings such amazing energy to this event, and we wanted to get the excitement around this year’s line-up started early. Hosting the headliner reveal party at our showroom was again the perfect opportunity to offer the community a chance to get behind something fun and continue the success of Bobstock.”

When planning to host those kinds of events, McDonald can have anywhere from a few months to just a few days to prepare. Thiemann, as the Marketing Manager, is obviously involved in the planning processes, solidifying the logistics and following through on the execution of the events. However, he said each event requires a team effort. Director Adam Black and General Sales Manager Dallas McCombs are also key players in deciding which events to select and giving final approvals.

“One event or cause isn’t more important than another,” Thiemann said of the decision-making process. “We want to help and serve as many community efforts as we can. We consider each event or sponsorship on its own merit, but the common thread is always how it can celebrate our community and improve the lives of those living here (in Morgan County).”

The next event McDonald will be hosting is the first-ever kick-off event for the newly-formed Morgan County Junior Golf Association, which will take place on May 14. McDonald is also looking forward to a summer full of events like the Brush Rodeo and, of course, Bobstock.

“Being able to connect with and give back to this community by supporting events and organizations is an integral part of how McDonald operates, and I have the privilege of helping make that happen,” Thiemann said. “It doesn’t get any better than that.”
