21ST ANNUAL AG APPRECIATION DINNER SLATED FOR SATURDAY
The Brush Chamber of Commerce 21st Annual Ag Appreciation Dinner will be held from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Saturday at the Mark Arndt Event Center. Tickets are $40 and can be purchased at the Brush Chamber of Commerce Office, located at 218 Clayton St. in Brush or at the door on the evening of the event.
The evening will include a social hour and sponsor booths beginning at 5:30 p.m. Dinner will begin at 6 p.m. and be followed by the program at 6:30 p.m.
This year’s program will feature a presentation by Brush’s FFA, Alyssa Eskew, who gave a winning presentation at last year’s event, and an Ag Panel discussing farm diversification will be hosted by Lorrie Boyer. The panel will include guests from Morgan County and the surrounding areas.
Executive Director MaKyle Mares said this will be the first year the Chamber will present the Agriculturist of the Year Award.
“This will be a great introduction to the event and for many years to come,” said Mares. “The
Brush Chamber partnered with representatives from local banking institutions in the community, membership and two businesses in the community that are well connected with the ag industry. We formed a committee and oversaw and took in nominees in December last year.”
“The nominee did not necessarily have to be a farm or ranch owner,” continued Mares. “Nominees had to have compassion for the ag industry, show resilience and adaptability, show mentorship or leadership and have community involvement.”
Mares said that a nominee could include a legislator or advocate to include the many people involved in the ag industry.
This will also be the first year for door prizes donated by the many event sponsors.
“This year’s dinner was sponsored by Cargill, Colorado Lamb Processors, Brush Meat Processors and Edwards Right Price Market,” said Mares.
