“VOX LUX”

The Fresno Bee (Sunday) - - On Tv -

Natalie Portman offers one of her biggest image changes to date in writer-director Brady Corbet’s drama, about a music star whose fame is built on her haunting memories of an incident from her youth. She and her sister (Stacy Martin) base a hit song on their experience of surviving a school shooting, with the Portman character continuing her music career into adulthood ... but celebrity can have its price, as she learns in a tragic way. Jude Law plays her driven manager, with Jennifer Ehle also starring and Willem Dafoe narrating the story. Raffey Cassidy has dual roles as the younger incarnation of Portman’s Celeste, then as her daughter. (R: AS, P, V) (Also on Blu-ray and On Demand)
