Solution is fix worst roads first

The Fresno Bee (Sunday) - - Opinion -

Where to begin. I read with interest the ongoing battle at City Hall regarding the gas tax dollars for road repairs. Brand, Bredefeld and Brandau claim its a matter of equity and safety.

I agree!

To be equitable, the areas with the greatest need should receive a bulk of the funds. I’ve lived at the Woodward Lake area now for about 12 years and have seen our streets and sidewalks maintained on a regular basis. Meanwhile, my parents have lived on the 400 block of S. Whitney since 1969 and have endured the same potholes and broken sidewalks for the last 40 of those 50 years.

To keep our citizens “safe” I propose a traffic signal be installed immediately at the the corner of West Audubon Drive and North Del Mar Ave., where the residents coming out of that northern neighborhood claim to “literally” put their lives on the line just to come out of their neighborhood onto Audubon. I for one, would lose sleep wondering if I’d ever be able to see my family again just because I had to go to work.

Shame on the council majority! Don’t they know the safety of us voting north Fresno residents has more value than a south of Shaw resident?
