Rapper invites Kanye to Passover seder
If Kanye West is going to do his Easter Sunday service, then Rami Matan Even-Esh knew he had to bring Passover to the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. Again.
Three years ago Shabbat Tent, an all-volunteer group, brought what it called Matzahchella, a series of 10-minute seders at the start of Passover, to the festival.
“When Kanye announced his Easter service then I knew we had to do it,” Even-Esh said. “I’m going to do Passover wherever I am but I just think there needs to be equal representation.”
Even-Esh, who raps under the name Kosha Dillz, has a special sign up at his tent which reads: “Shalom Kanye! Please come over to our Passover seder AKA Matzahchella.”
On Friday, as Jaden Smith’s Auto-Tune-filled set blared from the nearby Sahara Tent, Even-Esh began his first seder just after 6 p.m. He planned to hold more on Saturday.
