Mets: Na­tional League bat­ting leader Jeff McNeil was re­in­stated from the in­jured list by the Mets.

Giants: Third base­man Pablo San­doval will un­dergo sea­son-end­ing Tommy John re­con­struc­tive surgery on his right el­bow, and he be­came emo­tional at the thought of not play­ing again for re­tir­ing man­ager Bruce Bochy.

San­doval will un­dergo surgery the first week of Septem­ber in Los An­ge­les by Dr. Neal ElAt­tra­che, who eval­u­ated the 2012 World Se­ries MVP on Wed­nes­day. Mariners: Felix Her­nan­dez was ac­ti­vated off the in­jured list and was set to start for the Mariners. Her­nan­dez hadn’t pitched in the ma­jors since May 11 be­cause of a strained right shoul­der.
