Common culture most needed
Daniel O. Jamison’s comments regarding the ethnic studies draft curriculum for public schools are most welcomed (The Bee, Sept. 14). As a first-generation American, I find it difficult to understand why we need to focus on ethnic studies that only divide us further into tribes when we should be trying to learn more about American history.
There are some good things in our history and there are some very bad things also, but we need to have that discussion in the framework of a common culture.
