8 p.m. on 18.1 KVPT Find­ing Your Roots With Henry Louis Gates, Jr.

Host and ex­ec­u­tive pro­ducer Henry Louis Gates Jr. re­turns for Sea­son Ryan Eg­gold stars in “New Am­s­ter­dam” Tues­day on NBC. 6 of this hit ge­nealog­i­cal se­ries, in which he helps celebri­ties and other public fig­ures un­cover sur­pris­ing per­sonal sto­ries buried in the roots of their fam­ily trees, in­cor­po­rat­ing both cut­ting-edge DNA tech­nol­ogy and old­school re­search. First up: “Hol­ly­wood Roy­alty,” with guests An­jel­ica Hus­ton, Is­abella Ros­sellini and Mia Far­row. An­other new episode will air next week, fol­lowed by a run of en­core episodes. More new Sea­son 6 episodes re­turn in early 2020.

8 p.m. on 26.1 KMPH The Res­i­dent

A po­lice of­fi­cer shows up at the Chas­tain emer­gency room with an in­jured crim­i­nal he caught in the act, but the hos­pi­tal staff must keep him alive so they can save an in­no­cent party in the new episode “Saints & Sin­ners.” Else­where, Nic (Emily VanCamp) gets stuck in a sur­gi­cal ro­ta­tion with Cain (Mor­ris Ch­est­nut) that raises some se­ri­ous ques­tions about the way he op­er­ates, and Con­rad (Matt Czuchry) makes a shock­ing dis­cov­ery about the hos­pi­tal. Bruce Green­wood also stars.

8 p.m. on 30.1 KFSN The Con­ners

In a new episode called “The Preemie Mono­logues,” Har­ris (Emma Ken­ney) con­fronts Dar­lene (Sara Gil­bert) about her ir­re­spon­si­ble lifestyle, while Jackie (Lau­rie Met­calf) be­gins med­dling in the prob­lems of other peo­ple as a way to avoid ad­dress­ing her own. Else­where, the fam­ily steps in to help Becky (Lecy Go­ran­son) when she starts to feel over­whelmed by the costs of child-rear­ing. Dan Aykroyd, who acted with se­ries star John Good­man in “Blues Broth­ers 2000,” guest stars as one of Dan’s poker bud­dies.

8 p.m. on 59.1 KFRE The Flash

The Sea­son 6 pre­miere, “Into the Void,” picks up the story scant mo­ments af­ter Nora was erased from the time­line, so Barry and Iris (Grant Gustin, Candice Pat­ton) are struck speech­less by their grief. Mean­while, the rest of their team braces to take on their big­gest threat yet, one that could de­stroy all of Cen­tral City. Else­where, Killer Frost (Danielle Pan­abaker) has a har­row­ing brush with death that has a pro­found ef­fect on her re­la­tion­ship with Caitlin.

8 p.m. on BET 2019 Hip Hop Awards

Multi-plat­inum-sell­ing rap­per Cardi B leads the field of nom­i­nees with 10 nods in this flashy mu­sic awards cer­e­mony, which was taped Satur­day, Oct. 5, at Cobb En­ergy Per­form­ing Arts Cen­tre in At­lanta. Eight nom­i­na­tions each went to J. Cole, Travis Scott and DJ Khaled, closely fol­lowed by Drake, who’s up for seven awards. Me­gan Thee Stal­lion and the late Nipsey Hus­sle are vy­ing for five apiece.

10:01 p.m. on 24.1 KSEE New Am­s­ter­dam

In the new episode “Re­place­ment,” Max (Ryan Eg­gold) takes a chance on a new as­sis­tant, which goes about as well as ex­pected. Later, he con­fronts the hos­pi­tal board on a new plan he has. Mean­while, Iggy (Tyler Labine) is go­ing nuts try­ing to fig­ure out the root cause of a unit-wide ill­ness, and Kapoor (Anu­pam Kher) re­ceives some shock­ing news.
