Hit-run sentence way too light

The Fresno Bee - - Opinion -

How much is a life worth? Apparently you can hit and run, turn your car around, leave the person to die, repair and paint your car, seek help to avoid getting caught from your girlfriend who was with you during this heinous crime and so call friends and only be given three years.

A man who was a son, brother, husband and father who had his whole life ahead of him had it cut short because an 18 year old child wasn’t man enough to help Gavin Gladding out after hitting him. I’m appalled, hurt and cannot believe our legal system, which I respect, only gave three years for this murder.

Families, friends and Gavin’s community are destroyed due to the biggest decision this kid and his girlfriend could have made to possibly change the outcome. And they chose not to do the right thing. I rest my case.
