Mrs. Har­vey ( Es­ther) Yoder, of Ham­burg R1, was hon­ored on her re­tire­ment from Berknit Corp., Ham­burg, last Fri­day, af­ter 42 years of em­ploy­ment. Mrs. Martha Etch­berger pre­sented a Sav­ings Bond to Mrs. Yoder from all her co- work­ers in the un­der­wear depart­ment. Wil­liam A. Burkey gave a sav­ings bond to the re­tir­ing worker on be­half of the Berknit Corp. Avi­a­tion Boatswain’s Mate Sec­ond Class Richard L. Men­gle, USN, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lester J. Men­gle of Port Clin­ton, PA, is serv­ing aboard the U. S. Sev­enth Fleet at­tack car­rier USS Kitty Hawk, off the coast of Viet­nam. Terry Lin­den­muth, 129- pound Ham­burg Area High School wrestler, won a cham­pi­onship tro­phy in the Ash­land Tour­na­ment in the North Schuylkill High School, Ash­land, last Satur­day. Thomas F. Con­fer, pres­i­dent of the Ham­burg Sav­ings & Trust Co., pre­sented a $ 25.00 U. S. Sav­ings bond to Mr. and Mrs. Earl T. Merkel, of Ham­burg R2, for be­ing the 10,000.00th cus­tomer to use their TV Auto Bank, last Thurs­day, less than a year af­ter the new fa­cil­ity at Fourth and Pine Streets, Ham­burg, was opened to the pub­lic. Spe­cial Veni­son Roast, serv­ing from 5 to 11 p. m. at the West Ham­burg Ho­tel, on Jan. 6. “Hawaii” star­ring Julie An­drews will be fea­tured at the Ham­burg Strand this week­end. Adults--$ 1, Stu­dents-- 85 cents, and Kids— 50 cents.
