Nayon B. (Rit­ten­house) Ha­lye, 81, passed away Nov. 30 in St. Joseph Hos­pi­tal.

She was the lov­ing wife of the late James W. Ha­lye, who died Dec. 16, 2006.

Born in Ha­zle­ton, she was the beloved daugh­ter of the late Ralph B. and Myr­tle E. (Slusser) Rit­ten­house.

Nayon was a 1954 grad­u­ate of Beaver High School and a 1969 grad­u­ate of Geisinger Hos­pi­tal, where she re­ceived her de­gree as a li­censed prac­ti­cal nurse.

She was em­ployed by Wern­ersville State Hos­pi­tal as an li­censed prac­ti­cal nurse for more than 20 years.

Nayon was a de­voted mem­ber of the Ham­burg Seven­th­day Ad­ven­tist Church, where she led out in a Bible study group and se­nior min­istries. She was also a mem­ber of the Shartlesville Lioness Club.

She was an avid reader, es­pe­cially of her Bible. She also en­joyed knit­ting, sewing and cro­chet­ing blan­kets for her chil­dren and grand­chil­dren, and trav­el­ing with her fam­ily.

Nayon’s strong, car­ing and de­ter­mined spirit will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was pre­de­ceased by her grand­son, Brian Ha­lye, in 2017.

Nayon is sur­vived by her three chil­dren, Don­naJean, wife of Roland B. Smith, Read­ing; James R., hus­band of Cindy Ha­lye, Wilm­ing­ton, Ohio; and Karl W., hus­band of Tammy Ha­lye, Ham­burg. She is also sur­vived by a brother, Carl F., hus­band of San­dra Rit­ten­house, Su­gar­loaf Twp.; nine grand­chil­dren, Ellen, Eric, Kory, Amie, Kath­leen, Myles, Kristo­pher, Kim­berly and Michael; and 13 great-grand­chil­dren.

Fu­neral ser­vices will be held Thurs­day at 2 p.m. in Ham­burg Sev­enth-Day Ad­ven­tist Church, 22 Wil­low Road, Ham­burg, with burial to fol­low at St. Michael’s Ceme­tery.

View­ing will be held Wed­nes­day from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thurs­day from 1 to 2 p.m. in the church.
