Steven H. Tomko Jr., 85, of Ard­more passed away Wed­nes­day in Mercy-Fitzger­ald Hos­pi­tal, Darby.

Born in We­ston, Steven was the old­est child of the late Stephen and Pauline Tomko. Steven is sur­vived by his lov­ing wife, Ca­role; his chil­dren, Court­ney (Frank) Hor­ri­gan, Mount Le­banon; Ken­neth (Karen) Tomko, Geneva, Ill.; and Kristin Tomko, Ard­more; and six grand­chil­dren, Matthew, Caro­line and Jack Hor­ri­gan and Abby, An­nie and Finn Tomko.

Steve was a proud grad­u­ate of Penn State Univer­sity, where he was vice pres­i­dent of his sopho­more class and pres­i­dent of the In­sur­ance Club.

After ini­tially work­ing in in­sur­ance, Steve spent his ca­reer in the oil and gas in­dus­try.

Steve was a life fan of the Penn State Nit­tany Li­ons, and looked for­ward ev­ery sum­mer to spend­ing time with his wife, chil­dren and grand­chil­dren on Long Beach Is­land, N.J. He loved his dogs, most es­pe­cially his last Scot­tie, Mickey.

Fu­neral ser­vices are pri­vate.

His fam­ily ex­presses their thanks to the staff of the Vi­tas Hos­pice at Mer­cyFitzger­ald and Sun­rise Haver­ford for their gen­tle and com­pas­sion­ate care.
