ROCK HILL, SC - Mr. Neely Hunter Sex­ton, Jr., 66, passed away Thurs­day, Jan­uary 10, 2019 at his home.

Visi­ta­tion will be held Mon­day, Jan­uary 14, 2019 from 6:30- 8:00 pm at Greene Fu­neral Home North­west Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732. Amemo­rial ser­vice will be held Sun­day, Jan­uary 20, 2019 at 3:00 pm at Tirzah ARP Church, 6161 Mt. Gal­lant Road, York SC 29745 with Revs. An­drew Put­nam and Gari­son Tay­lor of­fi­ci­at­ing.

Neely was the son of the late Neely Hunter Sex­ton, Sr. and Freida Press­wood Sex­ton. He­was a mem­ber of Tirzah ARP Church where he served as a Dea­con and Scout Master, and was also a mem­ber of the Sons of Con­fed­er­ate Veter­ans. Neely re­tired as a lock­smith from Fort Mill School District. He was a true artist who en­joyed paint­ing, draw­ing and was a master car­pen­ter. He con­structed mu­si­cal in­stru­ments, which he taught him­self to play, as well as build­ing tra­di­tional wooden ca­noes and cus­tom cab­i­nets. He loved mu­sic and was well-read, en­joy­ing all types of prose. He en­joyed the out­doors, gar­den­ing, tin­ker­ing with his trea­sured TJ Jeep, and es­pe­cially fish­ing.

Neely was pre­ceded in death by his son, James Parker Sex­ton. He is sur­vived by his lov­ing wife of 44 years, Sheila Arnold Sex­ton; his daugh­ter, Nicole Hunter Sex­ton of Greenville, SC; his son, Joe Thomas Sex­ton (Leah) of Rock Hill; four grand­chil­dren, James Hunter Cov­ing­ton, Leigh Anna Cov­ing­ton, Parker Joye Sex­ton and Neely Harper Sex­ton; his niece Cor­rie Alewine ( Tripp), and his brother, Pa­trick B. Sex­ton (Pa­tri­cia and Kaitlin) of Rock Hill.
