- Ann Weathersbe­e Davenport, of Kitty Hawk, NC, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2024, at the age of 88. Born on September 11, 1935, in Tarboro, NC, Ann lived a life dedicated to education and service.

Dedicating over 30 years of her life as a teacher’s assistant at Swift Creek Elementary School in Raleigh, NC, Ann truly found joy in helping her students learn to read. Following her retirement, she continued to share her passion for teaching by volunteeri­ng as a reading teacher. Her commitment to education touched the lives of many.

Ann was a devoted member of Westwood Baptist Church in Cary, NC, remaining actively involved until COVID restrictio­ns. She found solace and community within her church family.

She is survived by her son, Edward Davenport and wife, Beth, identical twin sister, Annette Nicholson, brother, Bill Weathersbe­e and wife, Shirley, and her cherished grandchild­ren.

Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Haywood Davenport, daughter, Beth Dale, and her parents, Mable Ayers Weathersbe­e and Allan H. Weathersbe­e.

A Memorial Service to Celebrate Ann’s Life will be held at 11:30 AM on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at Westwood Baptist Church in Cary, NC. Prior to the service, the family will receive friends and relatives beginning at 11:00 AM.

Ann will be fondly remembered for her kindness, dedication to education, and unwavering love for her family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
