One of two Netflix finalists in this category (the other is Audible, about a deaf high school football player shaken by his friend’s suicide), this one, about a young man serving in the Afghan National Army while his wife remains in a displacement camp, is being screened March 10 at Los Angeles’ Neuehouse, followed by a filmmaker Q&A moderated by NPR’s Renée Montagne.

When We Were Bullies

Jay Rosenblatt’s look back at a 50-year-old bullying incident was acquired for television exhibition by HBO Documentary Films on March 2, and it also will be at the center of a March 7 screening and Q&A at Los Angeles’ Museum of Tolerance. In the documentary, the filmmaker tracks down his fifth-grade classmates and teacher to see what they remember from the incident.
