Rangers get 1st win at Bar­clays Cen­ter vs. Isles

Mats Zuc­carello scored late in the third pe­riod and the vis­it­ing New York Rangers beat the Is­landers 2-1 on Satur­day for their first ever win at Bar­clays Cen­ter.

Zuc­carello redi­rected the win­ner with his skate from in front of the net for his fifth goal of the sea­son. Filip Chytil also scored and Alexan­dar Ge­orgiev made 24 saves to help the Rangers win in Brook­lyn for the first time since the Is­landers be­gan play­ing home games there in 2015.

The Is­landers had been 13-2-0 in the teams’ pre­vi­ous 15 meet­ings over­all. Devils 3, Fly­ers 2: Rookie Macken­zie Black­wood re­turned to the lineup af­ter miss­ing three games with an in­jury and made 32 saves in lead­ing the host Devils over the Fly­ers.

Da­mon Sev­er­son, Nico His­chier and Miles Wood scored as the Devils won for the sec­ond time in six games and handed the Fly­ers their ninth loss in the past 10 games (1-7-2)

James Van Riems­dyk and Sean Cou­turier scored for Philadel­phia. Carter Hart gave the Fly­ers a chance, mak­ing 23 saves.

Fri­day’s high­lights

Pen­guins: Jake Guentzel scored three times, Phil Kes­sel got the tiebreak­ing goal mid­way through the third pe­riod and the vis­it­ing Pen­guins ral­lied from an early three-goal deficit for a 7-4 vic­tory over the Ducks, send­ing Ana­heim to its 10th con­sec­u­tive loss.

Hur­ri­canes: Se­bas­tian Aho scored two goals off the skates of Buf­falo de­fense­men, and host Carolina held on for a 4-3 win to spoil Jeff Skin­ner’s re­turn to Raleigh.

Flames: Michael Fro­lik had a goal and two as­sists to lead streak­ing Cal­gary to a 4-3 come­back vic­tory over vis­it­ing Florida.

Jets: Kyle Con­nor had a goal and two as­sists as host Win­nipeg de­feated Detroit 4-2.
