Moriarty High School’s Troy Batie threw a no-hitter and Justin Carmona pitched a complete game shutout as the Pintos (12-7, 5-1) swept a doublehead­er April 12 at Pojoaque Valley. Carmona struck out 11 Pojoaque batters in the 3-0 first game victory; Batie fanned 12 and walked none, and Bryan Wright scored 3 runs to help lift the Pintos to a 6-0 win in the nightcap. The Pintos play April 20 at Los Alamos.

Moriarty High’s softball squad (8-11, 15) got swept in its April 12 doublehead­er at Pojoaque Valley, losing 14-3 and 21-7.

Estancia High School’s baseball team improved to 9-3 on the season after picking up a 9-3 victory April 16 at Capitan. The Bears split a doublehead­er at home April 12 against Texico, winning the first game 6-2, and losing the nightcap 7-2. Estancia won 9-7 on April 9 at LagunaAcom­a, three days after winning the annual Santa Rosa Lions Classic Tournament April 4-6; the Bears dismantled Desert Academy 17-1 in the opener, followed by a 9-2 win over Mccurdy and an 8-2 win over host Santa Rosa in the championsh­ip. Estancia played at Magdalena April 18.

The Lady Bears softball squad (4-11) split its April 15 doublehead­er at home against Logan, losing 11-8 in extra innings in the first game, and winning 19-6 in the nightcap. The Lady Bears played April 18 at East Mountain.

East Mountain High’s softball squad (3-13) lost April 16 at Tucumcari, 5-0. The Lady Timberwolv­es picked up their third victory of the season April 11 at home, pounding Socorro, 15-5.

Manzano High’s softball team improved to 13-5 overall, 4-0 in district after sweeping a doublehead­er April 13 at Rio Grande, 17-0 and 12-3. The Lady Monarchs host Santa Fe in a doublehead­er April 20.

Manzano’s baseball team lost April 13 at Rio Grande, 14-3.

Mountainai­r High School’s boys and girls track and field squads competed April 18 at the Sierra Blanca Invite in Ruidoso.
