Pedro Armando Ramirez, 85, passed away April 16 in Estancia. He was born on May 19, 1935 to the late Angel and Maria (Lozano) Ramirez in Geleana, Mexico. On July 28, 1956, he married the love of his life Rosa Acosta in Colonia Juarez, Mexico. He was also preceded in death by his son, Enrique Ramirez; brother, Anastacio Ramirez; sisters, Librada Herrera and Velia Chaparro; son-in-law, Jerry Mendez; and daughterin-law, Julie Ann Ramirez-welch. Pedro is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Rosa Acosta de Ramirez; children, Manuel Armando Ramirez and wife Flora, Raul Ramirez and wife Augustina, Gloria Mendez, Esperanza Montes and husband Manuel, Abigail Ramirez, Lindolfo Ramirez, Gustavo Ramirez, and Maria Ramirez; 30 grandchild­ren and 36 great-grandchild­ren. Pedro Ramirez lived in Pancho Villa, Mexico from 1969 to 1985, then moved to the United States. He has lived in Estancia, New Mexico since 1985 and has been working in farms all his life. He worked for Stuart Anderson and Eugene Ness until he retired. He was a wonderful husband and father, who raised nine children. He enjoyed each and every one of his grandchild­ren and great-grandchild­ren. He was a humble hard-working man who loved to be outside tending to his garden harvesting fresh chile, chopping wood, and laying in his hammock. His family was always his No. 1 priority, especially holidays, and being able to visit and spend time with all of them. He was a man of few words, but big actions, whom everyone looked up to. A rosary was recited April 21, and a mass was celebrated April 22, both at Saint Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Estancia. Burial followed at the Estancia Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearer­s were Manuel Ramirez, Raul Ramirez, Lindolfo Ramirez, Gustavo Ramirez, Gloria Mendez, Esperanza Montes, Abigail Ramirez and Maria Ramirez. Funeral arrangemen­ts were entrusted to Harris-hanlon Mortuary.
