Weekend Forecast: Hot and dry

Low pressure slowly drifting west across New Mexico will interact with abundant monsoon moisture. This will bring showers and thundersto­rms Friday and Saturday across the East Mountains. Temperatur­es will be cool with heavy rain possible. High pressure will build southeast from the Great Basin on Sunday. The result will be warmer temperatur­es and decreasing chances of showers and thundersto­rms.

For Edgewood, Moriarty and the Estancia Valley, expect showers and thundersto­rms Friday through Saturday. Locally heavy rain is possible. High temperatur­es Friday will be in the lower to middle 70s and on Saturday in the middle to upper 70s. Low temperatur­es Friday and Saturday nights will be in the lower to middle 50s. There is a chance of afternoon showers and thundersto­rms on Sunday. High temperatur­es on Sunday will be in the lower to middle 80s.

For Cedar Crest, Tijeras and Sedillo areas, expect showers and thundersto­rms Friday through Saturday. Locally heavy rain is possible. High temperatur­es Friday will be in the lower to middle 70s and on Saturday in the middle to upper 70s. Low temperatur­es Friday and Saturday nights will be in the middle to upper 50s. There is a chance of afternoon showers and thundersto­rms on Sunday. High temperatur­es on Sunday will be in the lower 80s.
