Phyllis Mae Corvin, 86, was taken away to be with the Lord on Sept. 2 in Stanley. She was born July 2, 1935 in Alton, Illinois to the late Rosco and Ella (Schroder) Phyllips. Phyllis lived in New Mexico for the past 72 years and was a member of the Stanley Union Church. She loved to knit and cook, but her true passion was the outdoors. She had a green thumb and loved to garden and tend to her flower beds. She wore out more garden hoses than you can shake a stick at. Phyllis also loved to take care of the cattle. She was a beautiful, kind and loving mother, wife and grandmothe­r and will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Phyllis was also preceded in death by her brother, Dale Phillips; sister, June Grousbeck; two brothers-in-law, Dee Miller and Joe Anaya; granddaugh­ter-in-law, Tristin Corvin; and great-granddaugh­ter, Lexie Corvin. She is survived by her beloved husband of 68 years, Homer Corvin; sons, Ronald “Ronnie” Corvin and wife Paula, and Chris Corvin and wife Cindie; daughters, Wanda Miller and husband Art, Wretha Corvinstro­de, and Wynetta Nichols and husband Allen; sister, Rosie Miller and Mary Ann Anaya; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family; 12 grandchild­ren; and 17 greatgrand­children. Funeral services will be held Sept. 14 at the Stanley Union Church. The viewing will be at 10 a.m., with the service to follow at 11. Interment will be at the Stanley Cemetery. Pallbearer­s will be Ronnie, Corvin, Zeb Corvin, Chris Corvin, Will Corvin, Luke Corvin and Nick Corvin. Honorary pallbearer­s will be Jacob Corvin, Steven Corvin, Levi Strode and John Mccauley. Funeral arrangemen­ts were entrusted to Harris-hanlon Mortuary.
