East Mountain High School’s girls soccer team picked up its thirdstrai­ght victory with a 4-1 win at home Oct. 14 over Sante Fe’s Monte del Sol. East Mountain head coach John Sabrowski said Monte del Sol played a “very physical” game. Sierra Larson scored a pair of goals—a brace in soccer vernacular. Kaylee Baker “had a sweet goal from the right side,” and Sienna Valdez scored a goal on a header from a corner kick, Sabrowski said. The win over MDS followed a 2-0 victory Oct. 12 at Farmington’s Navajo Prep School. Audria Vestal and Berkeley Flammang each scored a goal in that victory.

Moriarty High School's football team improved its record to 3-3 with a 41-20 win Oct. 8 at Ruidoso. Kenneth Poyner led the Pintos with four touchdowns. Poyner piled up 119 yards rushing on 17 carries. Cayden Dunn and Matthew Romero also scored touchdowns; Romero tallied 45 yards rushing on three carries; Dunn had 40 yards on 10 carries. Erik “Gray” Wolf added 69 yards rushing on six carries. The Pintos’ defense played a key role in the win, coming up with several turnovers, including five intercepti­ons.

Moriarty’s girls soccer team battled to a 1-1 double-ot draw Oct. 12 against the visiting Taos Lady Tigers. Lila Lionbarger scored Moriarty’s lone goal. The Lady Pintos played Oct. 14 at Los Alamos.

Moriarty’s boys soccer team lost 1-0 at Taos on Oct. 12. The Pintos hosted Los Alamos Oct. 14. Moriarty’s volleyball team picked up a 3-0 sweep at home Oct. 12 over Espanola Valley (2520, 25-17, 25-17).

Estancia High School’s volleyball team lost 3-0 at home on Oct. 7 to Santa Rosa. The loss came on the heels of the Lady Bears’ 3-0 sweep at Sante Fe’s Monte del Sol Charter School on Oct. 5.

Mountainai­r High School's six-man football team won its third-consecutiv­e game Oct. 8 with a 34-25 victory at Hondo Valley. The win lifted the Mustangs to 3-2 overall.

Mountainai­r will find out if it made the state playoffs when the New Mexico Activities Associatio­n releases the brackets for the six-man state playoffs on Oct. 16.

Mountainai­r’s volleyball team picked up its first win of the season Oct. 12 with a 3-0 sweep over Vaughn (2522, 25-14,25-14). The Lady Mustangs hosted Magdalena on Oct. 14.
