Flora M. Alarid 1956 – 2021

-

Flora Mariana Alarid, 65, of Estancia, peacefully passed away Dec. 2, surrounded by loved ones. On August 16, 1956, Flora was born to Roman and Mariana Montoya (Trevizo) in Tajique. She graduated from Estancia High School in 1974 and attended TVI. She later completed her Dental Assistant degree but ultimately became a caregiver for the elderly. Flora married her high school sweetheart, Candido G. Alarid, on June 17, 1977. They were together 50 years, raising two boys, Candido Alarid Jr. and Brian F. Alarid. Flora has six grandchildren, Candido J. Alarid V (Cinco), Eliana R. Alarid, Addison G. Alarid, Mathias N. Alarid, Genesis E. Alarid, and Jarin I. Lajeunesse, along with Levi, Lane, and Lacey Lovato. She loved her grandchildren with all of her heart and was Mom and Nana to many more. Flora was not only a caregiver for her job but truly at her heart. She never met a stranger and opened her home to anyone who needed a helping hand. Whether it was a cup of coffee or a good conversation, Flora never judged and would give a job to anyone that needed the help. She was a foster mother to countless children and helped raise her sisters, brother, nephews, and nieces. Flora was a hard worker and instilled that work ethic in all of her children. She was chosen to do work that no one else could do and cared for many elderly in our community. Flora thought of those individuals like family and was treated as so. She touched many people in our community and was loved by all. Flora’s favorite pastime was to go to the casino. She loved attending concerts, family gatherings and being surrounded by her many friends and family. Flora was preceded in death by her father, Roman Montoya; mother, Mariana Trevizo; stepfather, Cenobio Trevizo; brother, Raymond Montoya; and son, Brian F. Alarid. She is survived by her loving husband, Candido G. Alarid; son, Candido Alarid Jr. (and Shannon); daughter-inlaw, Erin Alarid; six grandchildren; sisters, Alice Lucero (and Edward), Pauline Vigil (and Arthur), Debbie Cates (and Ron), Rita Luna (and Florian), and Ramona Montoya; and brother, Archie Montoya (and Kathy); along with many nephews, nieces, and close friends. Services will be held at the Estancia High School Gym on Dec. 18. A viewing and Rosary will be held at 9 a.m., followed by the service at 10. Burial will take place at the Estancia Memorial Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Harris-hanlon Mortuary.
