INDIANAPOL­IS – Anita Sue Tiemeyer, 66, of Indianapol­is, formerly of Columbus, died on Friday, November 17, 2023 at the Roudebush VA Medical Center. Anita was born on September 5, 1957, in Columbus to Marshall Tiemeyer and Dorothy Wimmer Tiemeyer. She was a 1975 graduate of Columbus East High School, and enjoyed baking and gardening.

Anita had been a writer for most of her life, beginning at the age of six. She received her bachelor’s degree cum laude in music education and history at Western Illinois University in 1981. Ms. Tiemeyer then entered the United States Air Force in 1983 and was a member of the 539th Air Force Band of the West in San Antonio, Texas. Anita was honorably discharged in 1991 and went on to receive her masters of music degree in 1995 from Butler University in Indianapol­is, Indiana. Anita also taught private music lessons and maintained a private woodwind studio in Central Indiana for over thirty-five years.

Anita was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her sister, Donna Marie Tiemeyer of Columbus, Indiana, and a host of cousins and friends.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, November 25, 2023, at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home between 1 pm and 3 pm. A funeral service will begin at 3 pm, with Rev. Dennis Aud officiatin­g. Following the service, Anita will be cremated and inurned at Garland Brook Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made through the funeral home to the Bartholome­w County Humane Society.
