SANTA FE – Francis “Fritz” Arthur Feltman, 85, of Santa Fe, New Mexico, passed away peacefully on November 17th, surrounded by his beloved wife Marilyn (Mell) and children. Fritz was called to heaven after battling cancer just 10 days shy of his 86th birthday. He was born to Roberta and Arthur Feltman on November 27th, 1937 in Indianapol­is, Indiana. Fritz graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1955. After High School, he entered the Navy from 1955-1958 where he was a radio operator for the P2V surveillan­ce aircraft. After the Navy, he attended Marian College from 1958-1962 and graduated with a double major in History and French. In 1965 he began his career with the Secret Service where he worked for the Treasury Department until he retired in 1987. Over the next several years he worked as a Private Investigat­or, then worked with Merryll Lynch, and later started his own private ride service in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Fritz met his wife Mell, his senior in High School on a blind date. They continued to date while he was in the Navy and got married while he was in college on June 11th, 1960, at St. Peter and Paul Cathedral in Indianapol­is, Indiana. Mell and Fritz had 5 children, 13 grandchild­ren and 4 great grandchild­ren. During his career with the Secret Service they lived in Maryland, Puerto Rico, then Dallas, Texas where they settled for more than 10 years. Santa Fe, New Mexico is where they wanted to retire and ended up moving there in 1984. Over the years they loved to travel even if it was just to be at grandchild­ren’s birthdays, confirmati­ons or graduation­s. They were lucky enough to make the trip to the Holy Lands as well as France, Tahiti, Australia, New Zealand, and Amsterdam just to name a few.

Fritz was much loved by his family and friends for his positive attitude, energy, and entertaini­ng sense of humor. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Marilyn “Mell” Feltman, their children; Michele Savoy (Glenn), Meaux, Louisiana, Christophe­r Feltman (David), Gulfport, Florida, Robert Feltman (Tatia), Conroe, Texas, Samantha Nichols (Paul), Prosper, Texas, and Gigi Prior (Rob), Lexington Park, Maryland. 13 grandchild­ren, 4 great grandchild­ren; sisters, Carole Toscano, Sandie Koehl, and many nieces and nephews. Fritz is proceeded in death by his mother and father, Arthur and Roberta Feltman and brothers Robert and Anthony Feltman.

Family and friends are welcome to attend the funeral mass for Francis Feltman at St. Edward’s Catholic Church in Spring Texas on November 27th, at 10:30 am. A reception will follow mass at the church.

His remains will be flown from Spring back to Santa Fe, New Mexico where he will be buried at the National Cemetery.
