Matthew (Matt) Stephen Merlina

On November 27, 2023, Matthew (Matt) Stephen Merlina, a most beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, was called home to Heaven at the age of 26. We all realize that here on earth is merely a pregame, ahead of the ultimate resting spot, the “big show”.

From a young age, Matt was a proud Butler Bulldog and faithful spirit. He graduated from Guerin Catholic High School, where he excelled as an athlete, and attended Butler University for his undergraduate degree. He was a proud employee at Knowledge Services.

Matt is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, J. Stephen Smith.

He is survived by his parents, Dominic and Rebecca Merlina, brother Dominic (Bridget) Merlina, sister Monica (Brad) Conner, niece Luna Anne Conner, maternal grandmother Barbara Smith, paternal grandparents Andrea and Angela Merlina, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

He took pride in being an uncle and never missed an opportunity to spend time with his family and friends. Matt loved those around him unconditionally. He was always the first to lend a hand to others in need. His smile, laugh, and vigor for life will be incredibly missed.

Please join us for funeral services that will be held on Friday, December 1, 2023 at 11 AM at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church at 14598 Oak Ridge Drive, Carmel, IN. Viewings will take place on Thursday, November 30th from 4 - 8 PM and on Friday, December 1 from 9 - 10:30 AM prior to the funeral at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church.
