INDIANAPOLIS - Carolan Alice Liebrich Peck passed away peacefully on February 7, 2024, just a month shy of her 98th birthday. She was born in Indianapolis on March 9, 1926, to Robert and Alice (Mount) Liebrich, the middle of three children. She had two brothers, Robert and Thomas.

A lifelong resident of Indianapolis, Carolan attended Shortridge High School, Herron School of Art and Indiana Business College. In her early work career she was employed by L.S. Ayres and Company to create window displays for their downtown store. Carolan met her husband, Jack S. Peck, at the Spencer Curtis Advertising Agency (later known as Quinlan, Keene, Peck & McShay) where they both worked. They were married for 58 years, until Jack’s death in 2007.

As a young woman, Carolan excelled at many sports including golf and tennis. She was an avid reader, an excellent knitter, seamstress and crafter, and continued to create art throughout her life. Among her amazing creations were intricate wooden toys, miniature doll houses and furniture, and Moravian stars. In her later years Carolan enjoyed knitting hundreds of hats for newborns and those in need. There was no limit on her creativity and skills. She energetically shared her love of art with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Carolan and Jack shared a love for travel, visiting England, Scotland and enjoying a canal trip through Europe, among other destinations. Their five children are Cathy (Jim) Crafton, Susan (Bill) Van Huss, Marcia (David) Evans, Barbara (Michael) Blickman, and Andy (Cindy) Peck. Carolan was predeceased by her husband Jack, her daughter Marcia, her son-in-law Jim and her brother Robert (Adeline) Liebrich.

She is survived by her 12 loving grandchildren; Abigail (Jason) Smith, Lindsay (Olivier) Menthéour, Carolan (Justin) Tracey, Scott (Jessica) Crafton, Jennifer (Stevan) Miller, Allison (Jamie) Lazin, Jeffrey (Rachel) Blickman, John (Lindsey O’Bannon) Evans, Julia (James) Clark, Claire Evans, Alexandra (Alex Sanjian) Peck, and Jack (Sunny) Peck. Her brother Tom (Zoe) Liebrich also survives.

Carolan also leaves behind 17 great-grandchildren, all of whom had the wonderful experience of spending time with their beloved great-grandmother.

A private family celebration of life will be conducted in the spring.
