CARMEL - Beatie Jane Fleetwood Cummings, 96 of Westfield, passed away Tuesday, February 20, 2024. Beatie was born December 1, 1927 in Detroit, MI to the late James L. and Betty Fleetwood. She attended Indianapol­is Public Schools #41 and #60, attended Broad Ripple High School and graduated from Shortridge High School.

Beatie owned Bea’s Bakery in the City Market for 30 years, retiring in 1989. After retirement, she worked another 24 years as a receptioni­st at Flanner & Buchanan, retiring again in 2016.

Beatie was a member of Carmel Christian Church. She was Past President of the City Market Stand-owners Associatio­n for 3 years and held other offices over a 15-year period. Beatie was a member of Mayor Hudnut’s Task Force for the City Market, was team captain in two classic bowling leagues, was an executive board member of the American Legion #155 and an avid Euchre player.

Family and friends are invited to gather on Friday, March 1 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Flanner Buchanan-Carmel, where a funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 2 at 10:30 am. Burial will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery.

Beatie is survived by her daughter Sally (Becky) Buuck, granddaugh­ters, Robyne J. (husband, Jim) Hart, Rae Ann (husband, Todd) Wilson, and Amanda (husband, Jim) Talley; grandson, Tony (wife, Leslie) Edgecomb; great grandchild­ren, Luke Wilson, Madison Gaudet, Xavier Gaudet, Roman Gaudet, Andrew Edgecomb, Alex Edgecomb, Samantha Talley and Grant Talley, and six great-great grandchild­ren.

She was preceded in death by her children, Charles Douglas Cummings, Janalynn K. “Jannie” Tucker and Cassandra J. Pavka and her grandson, Marc L. Gaudet.
