INDIANAPOL­IS - Jack D. Reid, 87, of Indianapol­is, went to be with his Lord and Savior on March 6, 2024. He was born on July 13, 1936 in Indianapol­is, Indiana to the late Kelso M. and Martha Reid.

He graduated from Emerich Manual High School in 1955. He was an electricia­n for 42 years. During that time, he worked for Miller-Eads Company. He was a member of IBEW Local 481. He had his own microwave oven repair business for a short time. After he retired, he worked at the Statehouse as a doorkeeper for the Indiana House of Representa­tives and the Indiana Senate.

He married the love of his life, Marilyn (Fields) Reid on June 22, 1958. He was a servant of God and lifelong member of University Heights United Methodist Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family, working on puzzles, and helping those around him. He was a true “Jack of all trades”. He worked hard to provide for his family, but always made time to joke and laugh. He had a laugh and a smile that could light up a room and always tried to bring joy to those around him.

He is survived by his daughters, Rebecca Reid Hockemeyer and Donna Long (Kevin); his sons, Paul Reid and Eric Reid (Deanna); and eight grandchild­ren, Alex (Katie), William (Olivia), Cierra, Mia, Bristen, Callie, Gianna, and Jack; his sister JoAnn Balza.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years; his parents, and his sister Nancy Stenger.

Visitation will be Tuesday, March 12, 2024 from 5:00pm – 8:00pm at G. H. Herrmann Madison Avenue Funeral Home, 5141 Madison Avenue, Indianapol­is, IN. Funeral Service will be conducted 11:00am on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at University Heights United Methodist Church, 4002 Otterbein Ave, Indianapol­is, IN 46227, with additional visitation from 10:00am until time of service.

He will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
