Judith Wesenberg
Judith (Judy) A. Wesenberg, 86, of Noblesville, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, February 15, 2024, at Prairie Lakes Health Campus in Noblesville. Judith Arline Zuber was born on February 25, 1937, to Ernest and Florence (Doolittle) Zuber in Davenport, Iowa.
Judy was a 1955 graduate of Davenport High School and received a bachelor’s degree in 1959 from the Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, Iowa (now known as the University of Northern Iowa.) Following graduation, she was a math teacher at Williams Jr High School in Davenport. In 1961, Judy joined other students on a summer excursion for a Social Studies Seminar to Europe where she took an ocean liner across the Atlantic Ocean from Montreal, Canada, to Liverpool, England. She spent the summer traveling through England, France, Germany, Austria, Holland, Switzerland, Poland, the Czech Republic, and the former Soviet Union.
Judy married Carl Wesenberg on June 15, 1963, at St. Mark Evangelical Lutheran Church in Davenport, IA. After living in Minneapolis, MN, Keokuk, IA, then Burlington, IA, the couple eventually made their home in Urbandale, IA in 1974 where Judy remained engaged in teaching as a substitute teacher at Urbandale High School and later as a private math tutor. The Wesenberg family were members of St. Stephens Evangelical Lutheran Church in Urbandale for 30 years. Judy relocated to Noblesville, IN, in 2004 and was a member at Christ the Savior Lutheran Church and a resident of Heritage Woods Assisted Living Center in Noblesville, IN.
Judy enjoyed taking long walks around the neighborhood when her health allowed, always greeting the neighbors with a friendly hello and a quick chat about their family. She was a voracious reader, jigsaw puzzle expert, daily crossword puzzle fanatic, euchre old pro, and most recently, a bingo queen in her assisted living home. She was a lifelong Iowa Hawkeye and enthusiastically cheered on the Hawks in football and basketball. Her favorite color was red, and she appreciated all things with red cardinals. She loved her family fiercely and treasured her role as that of Grandma to her four grandchildren, while so many other friends fondly knew her simply as “Grandma Judy.” She is truly cherished and will be missed every day. She is survived by her daughters, Wendy (Paul) Emerick of Wolcott, CT and Heidi (Scott) Motz of Noblesville, IN; 4 grandchildren, Matthew Emerick (age 20) of Connecticut, Carly Motz (age 18,) Brody Motz (age 15,) and Ellie Motz (age 15) of Indiana; amongst many other nieces and nephews across the country.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Carl Wesenberg; her parents; and seven siblings, Dr. Arvid Zuber, Helen McVey, Richard Zuber, Dr. Ernest Zuber Jr., Lois (Jean) Hill, Thomas Zuber, and Stewart (Tony) Zuber.
A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday June 23, 2024 at Randall & Roberts Funeral Center, 1685 Westfield Road in Noblesville, Indiana. Visitation will be held from 1:00 pm to the time of service at the funeral home.
