BROWNSBURG - Marjorie Elizabeth (Smith) Heinekamp

88 of Brownsburg passed away April 1, 2024. She was born June 16, 1935, in Manhattan, Kansas. She was the daughter of S. Marion Smith and N. Elizabeth (Johnson) Smith.

Marjorie lived during her childhood in Enid, Oklahoma then Chicago, Illinois, before the family settled in Indianapol­is, Indiana in her early teens. She graduated from Shortridge High School in Indianapol­is in 1952 and graduated from Butler University with a B.A, in 1956.

Marjorie married William Heinekamp January 27, 1957, lived, and raised her family in Speedway, Indiana, where they remained married until his death May 12, 1991. She moved to Brownsburg, Indiana in 1992 and resided there until her death.

She was a homemaker and held office positions at Edrich Men’s Wear and First Bank & Trust, both in Speedway. She was a former president and long-time board member of Speedway Public Library board and a member of Speedway Christian Church.

She is preceded in death by: both parents, husband William Heinekamp, brothers Eugene Smith and Ronald Smith, sisters Ellen (Smith) Book and Phyllis (Smith) Bucho.

She is survived by sons David Heinekamp (Donna) and Steven Heinekamp (DeAnn), grandchild­ren Erica Hofer (Patrick), Matthew Heinekamp (Allison), Courtney Reeves (David), Michael Heinekamp (Laura), Daniel Heinekamp (Laura) and 9 great grandchild­ren.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday April 12, 2024, at Conkle Funeral Home, Speedway Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Zionsville Cemetery,
