Jetta Anne Currise
Jetta Anne Currise passed away on April 8, 2024, at the age of 93. She was born on July 9, 1930, in New Albany, Indiana to Herbert and Anne Thorn. Jetta grew up in New Albany and left to attend Purdue University. At Purdue, Jetta was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority where she met many life long friends. Yet, her greatest accomplishment at Purdue was meeting Bill Currise, her husband for 71 years. After their marriage, they resided in Carmel, Indiana, where they raised their son Don and daughter Carol. In Carmel, Jetta was active at Woodland Country Club, and Orchard Park Church, Tri Kappa of Indiana and St Margaret’s Guild of Indianapolis. She and Bill were very active in their children’s activities in the Carmel schools and opened their home to many! In retirement, Bill and Jetta enjoyed traveling and the lake life at their Morse Reservoir home. Later in life, Jetta and Bill resided on Sanibel Island where Jetta was active at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church. Jetta’s and Bill’s greatest joy though was spending time with family. She loved following all her grandchildren’s activities and was “Momaw” to many of their friends. She also loved being with her 12 great grandchildren. Later in life, Bill and Jetta left their home on Sanibel and moved to Shell Point Retirement Community for 18 years. In 2018, they moved to Traditions at Brookside in McCordsville to be closer to family. Bill passed away in in 2020. The family would like to thank the staff at Brookside, Paradigm Health, and Jennifer (Currise ) Crosley for the love and care they gave Jetta and Bill. Jetta is survived by her two children Don Currise (Martha) and Carol Heider (Randy). She had 6 grandchildren, Julie O’Brien (Jim), Kristen Smith (Tim ), Jennifer Crosley (Brad), Neil Heider (Shannon), Kelly Wyand (John Paul), and Lindsay Schroeder (Drew), 12 great-grand children and nephew, Bill Maurer(Ann). A family service will be held in the future. Donations can be made to St. Michael’s Episcopal Church , Sanibel, Florida or Ding Darling Refuge, Sanibel, Florida or a charity of your choice.
