Joyce Adele Webster Kneisley
INDIANAPOLIS/LOUISVILLE - Joyce Adele Webster Kneisley, age 86, of Indianapolis, IN and Louisville, KY, passed away on April 3, 2024. She was born in 1937 to the late Wilmer “Ted” and Gladys Webster of Monroeville, IN. Joyce was a graduate of Monroeville High School and Indiana University, where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority.
After she and James Owen Kneisley (of LaPorte, IN) married in 1959, Joyce taught business courses at Nashville (IN) High School to support the family while Jim earned an MBA degree at Indiana University. She loved her idyllic childhood in Monroeville, the family farm, and returning there with her family, sister Dori, and nieces Felicity and Elizabeth. She also loved her life-long friendships with her sorority sisters and neighbors in Mt. Prospect, IL, Indianapolis, IN, and Louisville, KY. Jim and Joyce’s adventures took them to military bases in Georgia, Kansas, and Colorado and then to banking posts in Chicago, Washington D.C. and Indianapolis.
She treasured her role in life as a wife, mother, grandmother, confidant, and dear friend to many. Over the course of her long life, Joyce enjoyed golfing, decorating, modern art, jazz music, and sharing a cocktail with her friends. The wisdom she passed on to her children and grandchildren will be carried forward for generations.
She is survived by daughter Jennifer (Stuart) Ferguson of Louisville, KY; son John (Kathleen) of Larchmont, NY; grandchildren Anabelle, Beau, Elise, Jack, Will, and Alexandra; and an extended family of sisters-in-laws, nieces, nephews, and their families. She was predeceased by her loving husband of over fifty years Jim Kneisley, daughter Dr. Alyssa Kneisley, and sister Dori Seiter.
Joyce was a member of St. Lukes United Methodist Church and Meridian Hills Country Club in Indianapolis. As Joyce requested, she will be interred privately at St. Lukes United Methodist Church.
