Friends of the Beaufort Library announces book talk schedule
The Friends of the Beaufort Library have announced the 2019 schedule for Books Sandwiched In, a program featuring book talks by eight local celebrities.
The programs are held at USCB Center for the Arts, 805 Carteret St., Beaufort, each Monday from noon to 1 p.m. The series begins Monday with Ann-Marie Adams reviewing “When: The Scientific Secrets of Perfect Timing,” exploring the importance of timing in everyday living and in lifechanging decisions.
All of the events are free, and coffee, snacks and raffle prizes will be available.
The 2019 schedule is: Jan. 7 - “When: The Scientific Secrets of Perfect Timing” by Daniel Pink, presented by Ann-Marie Adams
Jan. 14 - “Five Days at Memorial: Life and Death in a Storm-Ravaged Hospital” by Sheri Fink, presented by Russell Baxley Jan. 21 - Holiday
Jan. 28 - “The New Grand Strategy: Restoring America’s Prosperity, Security, and Sustainability in the 21st Century” by Mark Mykleby and presented by Mark Mykleby
Feb. 4 - “Our Prince of Scribes: Writers Remember Pat Conroy” edited by Nicole Seitz and Jonathan Haupt and presented by Jonathan Haupt and a panel of noted authors Cassandra King Conroy, Sallie Ann Robinson and Bernie Schein
Feb. 11 - “The Soul of America: The Battle for our Better Angels” by Jon Meacham, presented by Marilyn Harris
Feb. 18 - “World Without Mind: The Existential Threat of Big Tech” by Franklin Foer, presented by Mark Warter
Feb. 25 - “Belichick: The Making of the Greatest Football Coach of All Time” by Ian O’Connor, presented by Duffie Stone March 4 - “Bethesda’s Child” by John Warley and presented by John Warley
