Friends of the Beau­fort Li­brary an­nounces book talk sched­ule

The Friends of the Beau­fort Li­brary have an­nounced the 2019 sched­ule for Books Sand­wiched In, a pro­gram fea­tur­ing book talks by eight local celebri­ties.

The pro­grams are held at USCB Cen­ter for the Arts, 805 Carteret St., Beau­fort, each Mon­day from noon to 1 p.m. The se­ries be­gins Mon­day with Ann-Marie Adams re­view­ing “When: The Sci­en­tific Se­crets of Per­fect Tim­ing,” ex­plor­ing the im­por­tance of tim­ing in ev­ery­day liv­ing and in lifechang­ing de­ci­sions.

All of the events are free, and cof­fee, snacks and raf­fle prizes will be avail­able.

The 2019 sched­ule is: Jan. 7 - “When: The Sci­en­tific Se­crets of Per­fect Tim­ing” by Daniel Pink, pre­sented by Ann-Marie Adams

Jan. 14 - “Five Days at Me­mo­rial: Life and Death in a Storm-Rav­aged Hos­pi­tal” by Sheri Fink, pre­sented by Rus­sell Bax­ley Jan. 21 - Hol­i­day

Jan. 28 - “The New Grand Strat­egy: Restor­ing Amer­ica’s Pros­per­ity, Se­cu­rity, and Sus­tain­abil­ity in the 21st Cen­tury” by Mark Myk­leby and pre­sented by Mark Myk­leby

Feb. 4 - “Our Prince of Scribes: Writ­ers Re­mem­ber Pat Conroy” edited by Nicole Seitz and Jonathan Haupt and pre­sented by Jonathan Haupt and a panel of noted au­thors Cas­san­dra King Conroy, Sal­lie Ann Robin­son and Bernie Schein

Feb. 11 - “The Soul of Amer­ica: The Bat­tle for our Bet­ter An­gels” by Jon Meacham, pre­sented by Mar­i­lyn Har­ris

Feb. 18 - “World With­out Mind: The Ex­is­ten­tial Threat of Big Tech” by Franklin Foer, pre­sented by Mark Warter

Feb. 25 - “Belichick: The Mak­ing of the Great­est Foot­ball Coach of All Time” by Ian O’Con­nor, pre­sented by Duffie Stone March 4 - “Bethesda’s Child” by John War­ley and pre­sented by John War­ley
