Award Winning Playwright's Larchmont Family Home Listed for $4.8M
Drama Desk Award-winning writer and performer Benjamin Scheuer’s childhood family home in Larchmont, New York, is now on the market with a $4.79 million price tag.
The Post reports, “Scheuer developed his off-Broadway autobiographical one-man show/ musical, ‘ The Lion,’ and other works from this 8,179-squarefoot home at 875 Fenimore Road, which he says serves as his inspiration. Scheuer was also based in the house when he collaborated on the book, ‘Between Two Spaces’ with photographer Riya Lerner. Many of the photos in the book were taken in the house and on the property, and half of the proceeds are donated to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (Scheuer is a survivor of Hodgkins lymphoma).”
The majestic home sits on 6.38 acres. Designed in 1927, the house features seven bedrooms, five full bathrooms and its own elevator. Other perks of this glorious residence include a grand entrance hall with a sweeping staircase and a chandelier, a large sunroom, a chef’s kitchen and a wood-paneled library. In 2002, Scheuer constructed a recording studio that still exists within the home.
The grounds surrounding the mansion are just as spectacular. According to the listing, it includes a beautiful garden with a “babbling brook” with waterfalls and stepping stones.
