Stevensville man charged with DUI

STEVENSVILLE — A Stevensville man was charged with driv­ing un­der the in­flu­ence and reck­less driv­ing af­ter a deputy al­legedly spot­ted him driv­ing er­rat­i­cally.

Dfc. Doug Prince of the Queen Anne’s County Sher­iff’s Of­fice was work­ing traf­fic en­force­ment on Old Love Point Road and Love Point Road in Stevensville at 1:25 a.m. July 21 when he re­ported see­ing a black, Chevro­let HHR driv­ing er­rat­i­cally on the op­po­site side of the road.

He stopped the ve­hi­cle and made con­tact with the driver, iden­ti­fied by po­lice as Gary Keith Buck­ler of Stevensville, 46. While speak­ing with Buck­ler, Prince said Buck­ler’s breath smelled of al­co­hol. Buck­ler said he had just left a lo­cal es­tab­lish­ment where he had con­sumed al­co­holic bev­er­ages, po­lice said.

Buck­ler failed stan­dard­ized field so­bri­ety tests, po­lice said. He was ar­rested and charged with neg­li­gent driv­ing of a ve­hi­cle in care­less and im­pru­dent man­ner; reck­less driv­ing; chang­ing lanes when un­safe; fail­ure to drive ve­hi­cle on right half of road­way; driv­ing a ve­hi­cle while un­der the in­flu­ence of al­co­hol; driv­ing a ve­hi­cle while im­paired by al­co­hol; and driv­ing a ve­hi­cle while so far im­paired by drugs or al­co­hol, can­not drive safely.
