Stevensville man charged with DUI
STEVENSVILLE — A Stevensville man was charged with driving under the influence and reckless driving after a deputy allegedly spotted him driving erratically.
Dfc. Doug Prince of the Queen Anne’s County Sheriff’s Office was working traffic enforcement on Old Love Point Road and Love Point Road in Stevensville at 1:25 a.m. July 21 when he reported seeing a black, Chevrolet HHR driving erratically on the opposite side of the road.
He stopped the vehicle and made contact with the driver, identified by police as Gary Keith Buckler of Stevensville, 46. While speaking with Buckler, Prince said Buckler’s breath smelled of alcohol. Buckler said he had just left a local establishment where he had consumed alcoholic beverages, police said.
Buckler failed standardized field sobriety tests, police said. He was arrested and charged with negligent driving of a vehicle in careless and imprudent manner; reckless driving; changing lanes when unsafe; failure to drive vehicle on right half of roadway; driving a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol; driving a vehicle while impaired by alcohol; and driving a vehicle while so far impaired by drugs or alcohol, cannot drive safely.
