QA’s Sheriff’s Office takes on Lip Sync Challenge
CENTREVILLE — The Queen Anne’s County Sheriff’s Office got in on the lip-sync action sweeping the country with a challenge of its own. The department actually challenged the community to choose songs they would like to see performed in the lip-sync challenge.
“We were actually challenged by the residents of Queen Anne’s County to do this police lip sync challenge,” said Sheriff Gary Hofmann, “Once we accepted the challenge, we knew that our video had to be special. I am very proud of the video and thankful that the deputies and staff took the time, some on their days off, to be apart of this. Our community is very important to us and we are very happy with the positive responses.”
It was important to the Sheriff’s Office to have the community involved. A special community needed a special video, and one song just couldn’t do the job. The challenge video opens with a quick tribute to Bon Jovi’s “It’s My Life” as performed by Dfc. Eric Goodman and Dfc. Lanard Pack. Next, Deputy Christopher Carnaggio and Dfc. Mitch Jones show they have “Whatever It Takes.”
Of course, any performance wouldn’t be complete without apprehending the “bad guy,” and Cpl. Brad Martz, Dfc. Mike Piasecki, and Deputy Joseph Patikowski don’t hesitate to be the ones to let the dogs out.
Several other officers and detectives make cameos in the video, and Hofmann quipped, after seeing that footage, he wouldn’t want to be interrogated by any of them.
In such proximity to the water, it was only fitting that Otis Redding’s “Sittin’ on the Dock of the Bay” find its way into the montage.
The Sheriff’s Office credits Olga Hofmann, the sheriff’s wife, and Lauren Moses, public information officer, for writing and directing the plot. Dancers from Step 1 Dance 2 on Kent Island joined Hofmann for the final number. Video production was by QAC-TV.
A graduate of the FBI National Academy, Hofmann extended his challenge to the current class. To see the full video click the link on our website.
