Teacher of Year re­ceives new car

STEVENSVILLE — Rhonda Moore, first grade teacher and cur­rent Teacher of the Year for Queen Anne’s County, re­ceived a brand new 2018 Ford Ex­plorer XLT Premium do­nated by Her­trich Ford of Eas­ton on Wed­nes­day, Oct. 3. Pre­sent­ing her with the keys was Greg Starky, gen­eral man­ager of Her­tich Group. Moore will have use of the ve­hi­cle for the next year as she rep­re­sents QACPS at var­i­ous events and work­shops around the state. This is the sixth year the Her­trich Group deal­er­ships have of­fered the use of a new ve­hi­cle to the re­cip­i­ent of the Teacher of the Year.

Moore has en­tered her 19th year of teach­ing. She be­gan in Queen Anne’s County as a third grade teacher at Bay­side Ele­men­tary School. She moved to Mat­a­peake in 2004 and has been a first grade teacher there for the past 11 years. Moore has held a va­ri­ety of po­si­tions out­side the class­room in­clud­ing First Grade Team Leader and mem­ber of the School Im­prove­ment Team. She has also worked in cur­ricu­lum de­vel­op­ment for both math and read­ing.
