Kent Island Elks offering scholarships
STEVENSVILLE — The Kent Island Elks Lodge 2576 announces two different scholarship programs open to local high school graduates and this school year’s graduating seniors.
“Skilled Trades Scholarships” are open to all high school graduates between 2015-2019. There are more than 200 trades with jobs in demand. The most commonly known trades are health care, information technology, advanced manufacturing, construction and automotive.
Students applying are judged on student goals, grades, extracurricular activities, and letters of recommendations. Scholarships of $2,000 to $4,000 are presented. The program pursued must culminate in a certificate, diploma, or associate’s degree, not a bachelor’s degree, in the skilled field they are working toward.

The “Most Valuable Student Scholarship” is available to Class of 2019 graduates. This program is open to high school seniors who are U.S. citizens and residents of Queen Anne’s County.
Applications must be submitted online and the are judged on scholarship, leadership and financial need. Last year, four $2,000 one-time scholarships were presented to Queen Anne’s County graduating seniors.
