New Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla forming
CHESTER — Announcing the formation of a new Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla on Kent island. This new flotilla will initially be under the sponsorship of the Easton flotilla (054-21-03).
The Coast Guard Auxiliar y is a volunteer civilian organization under the U. S. Coast Guard. Its mission is service to the public through offering training and information on recreational boating safety. In the mid-Atlantic area there are about 3,500 Auxiliary members serving in marine safety, public affairs, public education, marine dealer visitation, and courtesy vessel examination. The organization offers many program opportunities, on and off the water. New members are invited to join in the vital public service mission to save lives by preventing maritime accidents.
Meetings will be held at the Piney Narrows Yacht Haven. An open house is planned for the near future. All interested are invited to attend this introductory meeting. Boat ownership is not a requirement to join the Coast Guard Auxiliary.
