New Coast Guard Aux­il­iary Flotilla form­ing

CH­ESTER — An­nounc­ing the for­ma­tion of a new Coast Guard Aux­il­iary Flotilla on Kent is­land. This new flotilla will ini­tially be un­der the spon­sor­ship of the Eas­ton flotilla (054-21-03).

The Coast Guard Aux­il­iar y is a vol­un­teer civil­ian or­ga­ni­za­tion un­der the U. S. Coast Guard. Its mis­sion is ser­vice to the pub­lic through of­fer­ing train­ing and in­for­ma­tion on recre­ational boat­ing safety. In the mid-At­lantic area there are about 3,500 Aux­il­iary mem­bers serv­ing in ma­rine safety, pub­lic af­fairs, pub­lic ed­u­ca­tion, ma­rine dealer visi­ta­tion, and cour­tesy ves­sel ex­am­i­na­tion. The or­ga­ni­za­tion of­fers many pro­gram op­por­tu­ni­ties, on and off the wa­ter. New mem­bers are in­vited to join in the vi­tal pub­lic ser­vice mis­sion to save lives by pre­vent­ing mar­itime ac­ci­dents.

Meet­ings will be held at the Piney Nar­rows Yacht Haven. An open house is planned for the near fu­ture. All in­ter­ested are in­vited to at­tend this in­tro­duc­tory meet­ing. Boat own­er­ship is not a re­quire­ment to join the Coast Guard Aux­il­iary.
