School board mem­bers to be sworn in

CEN­TRE­VILLE – Queen Anne’s County Pub­lic Schools will host a swear­ing-in cer­e­mony and re­cep­tion for new and re­turn­ing mem­bers of the Board of Ed­u­ca­tion at 4:30 p.m. Wed­nes­day, Dec. 5, in the meet­ing room at the board build­ing, 202 Ch­ester­field Av­enue, Cen­tre­ville, fol­lowed by the monthly meet­ing at 5:30 p.m.

In­cum­bent Board Mem­ber (now rep­re­sent­ing Dis­trict 2) Car­rie O’Con­nor, a li­censed so­cial worker, and ther­a­pist at Bridges Be­hav­ioral Health in Cen­tre­ville; newly elected Mem­ber AtLarge Tam­era Harper, for­mer Board Mem­ber (2012 – 2016), busi­ness­woman, and owner of Kent­morr Restau­rant on Kent Is­land; and newly elected Dis­trict 1 Board Mem­ber Michele Mor­ris­sette, a pub­lic health nurse with the QAC Health Depart­ment, will take the oath of of­fice guided by Clerk of Court Kather­ine Hager.

“I wel­come our new­est Board Mem­bers Mrs. Harper and Mrs. Mor­ris­sette, who bring a widerange of rel­e­vant ex­pe­ri­ence and ex­per­tise to the board,” said Su­per­in­ten­dent An­drea M. Kane, Ph.D. “I also look for­ward to con­tin­u­ing our work with Ms. O’Con­nor. I am con­fi­dent that QACPS will ben­e­fit from these in­di­vid­u­als’ in­sights, judg­ment and col­lab­o­ra­tive en­gage­ment in our school com­mu­nity.”

A re­cep­tion will fol­low af­ter the oath. Both the re­cep­tion and cer­e­mony are open to the pub­lic.
