School board members to be sworn in
CENTREVILLE – Queen Anne’s County Public Schools will host a swearing-in ceremony and reception for new and returning members of the Board of Education at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5, in the meeting room at the board building, 202 Chesterfield Avenue, Centreville, followed by the monthly meeting at 5:30 p.m.
Incumbent Board Member (now representing District 2) Carrie O’Connor, a licensed social worker, and therapist at Bridges Behavioral Health in Centreville; newly elected Member AtLarge Tamera Harper, former Board Member (2012 – 2016), businesswoman, and owner of Kentmorr Restaurant on Kent Island; and newly elected District 1 Board Member Michele Morrissette, a public health nurse with the QAC Health Department, will take the oath of office guided by Clerk of Court Katherine Hager.
“I welcome our newest Board Members Mrs. Harper and Mrs. Morrissette, who bring a widerange of relevant experience and expertise to the board,” said Superintendent Andrea M. Kane, Ph.D. “I also look forward to continuing our work with Ms. O’Connor. I am confident that QACPS will benefit from these individuals’ insights, judgment and collaborative engagement in our school community.”
A reception will follow after the oath. Both the reception and ceremony are open to the public.
